With infectious passion for design and sustainability, Laue is a leader and a mentor within her firm and industry. As an innovative, big-picture thinker, Laue specializes in sustainable design for energy conservation and indoor air quality, and she is always available for her teams, clients, and—most importantly—for her family. She celebrates outdoors and nature with her husband and two sons, teaching them to rock climb, paddle, ski, ride bikes, camp, and have fun. Within DLR Group, she ensures that 70 professionals are at the forefront of knowledge-based design, honing the technical skills required to advance high-performance systems. She is responsible for DLR Group’s sustainable initiatives, and she focuses on the importance of integrated design as a way to establish a truly holistic building that addresses short- and long-term programmatic, operational, and maintenance issues. Laue was a key member of the interdisciplinary team that crafted DLR Group’s design process changes, metrics, and action plans for the firm’s formal 2030 architectural commitments. She was the driving force behind the creation of the DLR Group Green Team, which champions sustainable design and coordinates interaction with local U.S. Green Building Council chapters and the LEED process. She has the unusual ability to translate complicated scientific ideas into a form that is understandable by both engineers and laypersons alike, and she speaks as an expert on sustainable design around the country.
