Jamey Lyzun has worked throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, and Jordan on projects ranging from a 60-story LEED Platinum Certified high-rise to a single-story net-zero residence. He is currently in the late design stage of a 550,000-sq-ft health care facility in Southern California that aspires to be the first acute-care hospital in the state to install active beams for cooling and heating. The project is on track to achieve a LEED Health Care Gold Certification and will use an innovative central plant with a combined cooling, heating, and power system. But Lyzun’s engineering portfolio isn’t merely filled with impressive projects. He takes an active role in recruiting and presenting to student organizations to raise awareness of environmental design while encouraging the next generation of architects and engineers to implement sustainable strategies. Lyzun has taught courses on the subject of sustainable design and integrated systems design at the Southern California Institute of Architecture and at the University of Southern California (USC). To keep himself abreast of sustainability initiatives, Lyzun is currently participating in the Programme for Sustainability Leadership at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. His personal achievements outside of work include completion of marathons and Ironman triathlon competitions, something Lyzun hopes to experience again.
