At 26, Smith became a partner at CMTA, and 2 years later he became a vice president. His dedication to sustainable design now propels his professional career and volunteer activities. The firm has engineered 72 Energy Star buildings, and Smith is directly responsible for 30 of them. Smith also led the engineering design of the first Energy Star residence hall in Kentucky, Thomson Hall at Transylvania University.
