Sheikh Nauman Iqbal, 35

Control System Specialist, Intech Process Automation Pvt. Ltd., Lahore, Punjab

BS Electrical Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan

Sheikh recognized that control systems engineering and industrial automation provided many opportunities and room for growth as an engineer. For the past 12 years, he has worked in many sectors ranging from pharmaceuticals to oil and gas. A notable accomplishment is programming the AB PLC code for approximately 1,000 IOs following TÜV guidelines and IEC 61508 and 61511 safety standards for SIL 2 programming. Throughout his career, he has led engineering teams and has even been deployed to a Chevron facility in West Africa-Angola to work as a control system specialist. Sheikh continues to set the standard for his engineering teams. He is often entrusted to work through mishandled projects, and he provides an innovative, outside-the-box way of thinking. He transfers the knowledge gained through these projects down to his junior team members as a mentor. Whilst at the Chevron camp, he learned and mastered cooking sub-continental Indian and Pakistani dishes. His most popular dishes were spicy and aromatic curries, which he occasionally cooked for up to 24 people.
