Galil Motion ControGalil DMC Familyl added the AMP-43240 to its multi-axis drive family. The AMP-43240 is a 4-axis servo drive which provides up to 750W per axis. It resides inside Galil’s DMC-4040 or DMC-4143 4-axis motion controller enclosure. The packaging of the multi-axis drives with the motion controller reportedly saves cost, space and wiring.

The new Amp-43240 contains four transconductance, PWM amplifiers for driving brushless servo motors at 20-80 V dc. Each amplifier drives motors operating up to 10 A continuous, 20 A peak per axis. The gain settings of the amplifier are user-programmable at 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 Amp/Volt. The switching frequency is 24 kHz. The amplifier offers protection for over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and over-temperature. A shunt regulator option is available.

The packaging of the 4-axis drive inside the motion controller enclosure saves space compared to using external drives. The DMC-4040 4-axis controller and drive package dimensions are 8.1 x 7.3 x 1.7-inch. Two 4-axis drives can also be installed inside the DMC-4080 8-axis controller package which measures 11.5 x 7.3 x 1.7-in. Other multi-axis drives available from Galil include 20 W and 500 W servo drives and drives for stepper motors.

Detailed specifications for Galil’s DMC-41x3 and DMC-40x0 motion controllers and drives.
