Chicago, Ill. -And the winners are.
Officials from 37 firms accepted 40 of the 2000 Control Engineering Editors’ Choice Awards at the publication’s 14th annual reception and ceremony last night at the Ritz-Carleton Hotel in Chicago. The event also featured a keynote address by Craig Resnick, senior analyst, ARC Advisory Group (Dedham, Mass.), who provided an analysis of trends in Control Engineering ‘s nine editorial coverage areas.
Many exhibitors displayed their crystal awards in their booths as the National Industrial Automation Show (NIAS) opened today. More than 15,000 engineers and other technical professionals are expected to visit more than 250 exhibitors at this year’s show, which is part of National Manufacturing Week 2001 at McCormick Place, Chicago. Control Engineering is one of the show’s sponsors.
Competition for 2000’s awards was especially fierce because numerous groundbreaking products were released this past year. To be eligible for consideration, products had to be featured in Control Engineering or at the magazine’s Control Engineering Online web site at www.controleng.com. In late December, Control Engineering’ s editorial staff began reviewing the thousands of products featured in its print and electronic editions during 2000. These were judged on technological advancement, service to the industry, and impact on the control market.
Winners in the nine product areas were selected. These areas include: process and advanced control; instrumentation and process sensors; software and information integration; machine control and discrete sensors; human-machine interface; motors, drives and motion control; PC-based control; networks and communications; and control components.
