ABB strengthens safety consulting business; launches simulator

Houston, Tex. - ABB's Process Industries Division and ABB Eutech recently partnered to provide consulting, design, installation, and other services for safety systems engineered to meet the needs of process and manufacturing operations.

Houston, Tex. - ABB's Process Industries Division and ABB Eutech recently partnered to provide consulting, design, installation, and other services for safety systems engineered to meet the needs of process and manufacturing operations. Combining ABB's automation portfolio of single, dual, and triplicated safety systems with ABB Eutech's front-end safety design services provides a complete solution, including design, engineering, implementation, training and maintenance associated with safety instrumented systems.

Safety services include HAZOP facilitation, risk analysis, safety integrity level (SIL) calculation and validation, ANSI/ISA S84.01 S84.01/IEC compliance assistance, safety training and certification, and life-cycle implementation per ANSI/ISA S84 standards. In addition, ABB's consulting services and tools are available to end-users and contractors wanting to develop and deliver their own complaint safety solutions.

In other news, ABB recently introduced Simulator Training System 2000 (STS-2000), a training simulator based on Microsoft's Windows 2000 architecture. STS-2000 permits users to reuse and extend the high-fidelity models developed for ABB's SimconX training simulator. Running on the Windows 2000 operating system, STS-2000 allows greater user flexibility, provides increased realism of the process models, and takes advantage of the latest technologies for the user interface.
