ACEC elects chairman

Gregs G. Thomopulos has been elected chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).

Gregs G. Thomopulos, chairman of Stanley Consultants, has been elected chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). Representing more than 5,000 firms, ACEC is a large federation of 51 state and regional councils representing America’s consulting engineering industry. Thomopulos served as ACEC chairman-elect in 2012-2013. He previously served as president of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers from 2009-2011.

Thomopulos is an ACEC Fellow and has long been an active member of the organization serving on a wide variety of national committees.

Thomopulos has 45 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry and is a licensed professional engineer in 14 states and Puerto Rico, a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Society of American Military Engineers. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas, an MS in Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics from the University of California, Berkeley and an honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Iowa.

Thomopulos joined Stanley Consultants in 1967, and served as president and CEO of the firm from 1987 until 2007 when he was elected chairman of the board.
