ACG releases energy management guideline

The new edition of the ACG Energy Management Guideline describes recommends steps for achieving energy efficiency in buildings while ensuring optimal building performance.

The AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) has published the new AABC Energy Management Guideline for building owners, design professionals, commissioning authorities, and energy management professionals. The new guideline describes a systematic process for achieving maximum energy efficiency while ensuring optimal building performance.

The guideline is a key element of a much broader initiative, the AABC Energy Management Program, which is designed to provide education, training, and certification for qualified Energy Management Professionals (EMP). The training and certification program will launch in April at the ACG Annual Conference in Las Vegas.

The energy management program is unique within the industry because the program applies energy management skills and knowledge to the commissioning methodology. The commissioning-based process follows a data-driven approach for accurate detailed analysis and project planning.

The AABC Energy Management Guideline details the process by which an EMP works closely with the client and other members of the project team to develop strategies to achieve energy-related goals, improve energy efficiency, and optimize building performance.
