Acquisition: Sensor company adds capacitive sensor capability

Florence, KY—Balluff Inc. in North America has announced that its parent company, Balluff GmbH, located in Neuhausen, Germany, has acquired SIE Sensorik Industrie GmbH, based in Viernheim, Germany. SIE is a manufacturer of capacitive sensors, including those use for level sensing applications.

in North America has announced that its parent company, Balluff GmbH, located in Neuhausen, Germany, has acquired

SIE Sensorik Industrie GmbH

, based in Viernheim, Germany. SIE is a manufacturer of capacitive sensors, including those use for level sensing applications.

According to Kent Howard, president of Balluff, “The Balluff Group is one of the world’s leading providers of sensors for factory automation. With this acquisition, we’ve added increased design expertise and production capability in the area of capacitive sensors to complement our present offering of sensors to help meet the needs of our customers.”

Managing director of Balluff GmbH, Rolf Hermle, added, “SIE offers interesting synergies and will provide the Balluff Group with improved access to its target markets and thereby a significant boost in global sales.”

The previous owners of SIE will remain in place as chief officers until December 2008 to ensure the company’s smooth integration into the Balluff Group. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
