San Jose, Calif. – Adept Technology released Adept DeskTop software, a PC software application to graphically program, control, and monitor Adept equipment using the V+ and MicroV+ programming languages. Adept DeskTop also includes the Adept ActiveV, an ActiveX (COM) library, which gives users the power to call V+ or MicroV+ monitor commands from within other PC applications programs such as Microsoft Visual Basic and C++.

‘Adept DeskTop is designed to dramatically simplify the interface to V+ and MicroV+ with easy-to-use graphical objects,’ said Joe Campbell, vice president of marketing for Adept Technology. ‘Since it includes ActiveX support, users now can leverage other PC programming tools to create their own custom panels and interface to the controller. Combining Adept’s integrated motion control with best-in-class PC tools will decrease training costs and implementation time, while increasing productivity.’

The Adept DeskTop software packages, available as Adept DeskTop Full and Adept DeskTop Lite editions, feature standard Microsoft style toolbars, icons, and drag and drop tools facilitating ease-of-use editing, debugging and execution of programs. Customizable user panels also allow flexibility in defining the graphical user interface and access level for any particular application. The Adept DeskTop Full Edition is used to interface with V+ on the AdeptWindows Controller and Adept SmartController. Adept DeskTop Lite Edition is used to interface only with MicroV+ on the Adept SmartAxis.

Adept Technology designs, manufactures and markets factory automation components and systems for the fiber optic, telecommunications, semiconductor, automotive, food and durable goods industries throughout the world. Adept’s robots, controllers, and software products are used for small parts assembly, material handling and ultra precision process applications.
