Executive Summary–

Baldor Electric Company has been able to save about $1 million annually in energy costs corporate-wide for each of the last three years with sound motor management practices utilizing premium effi ciency motors, adjustable speed drives, higheffi ciency lighting systems and peak shaving generators.

It is important to understand that there are two key elements of a sound energy management program:

1) To reduce energy consumption

2) To control the cost from the supplier An end result energy of the program is also a reduction of plant downtime, which is often more valuable than the energy savings. Most industrial and commercial energy users in almost any facility can adopt these practices.

From Baldor’s earliest years, production of energy effi cient motors was important. In the 1924 Baldor Electric catalog, Baldor established the company’s legacy as being the energy effi ciency leader.
