Hugo Vandamme, president and ceo of BARCO N.V., recently announced his company’s acquisition of Karlsruhe-based Dr. Seufert GmbH, a specialist in visual subsystems for process control rooms. “With this acquisition, BARCO extends its sales and distribution network with sales to system builders, increases its market share in Germany, acquires a number of new application markets in the process control area, and increases its technological know-how of projection systems and graphic software,” he said. Founded in 1971, Dr. Seufert GmbH, originally limited its activities to software development for electric power stations. Its present product range includes a variety of hardware and software for displaying data and video. The company is reported to have achieved in 1997 a turnover of US $19.5 million.
