Berkeley adds OPC, ActiveX to automation products

Berkeley Process Control Inc. announced Nov. 21, 2002, that it's adding OLE for Process Control (OPC) server and ActiveX controls capabilities to its BX and BAM motion-and-machine controller products. The firm expects these open, industry-standard interfaces to improve interoperability, and expand market access to its automation productivity solutions.

Richmond, CA – Berkeley Process Control Inc. announced Nov. 21, 2002, that it’s adding OLE for Process Control (OPC) server and ActiveX controls capabilities to its BX and BAM motion-and-machine controller products. The firm expects these open, industry-standard interfaces to improve interoperability, and expand market access to its automation productivity solutions. For instance, OPC enables interoperability between disparate devices, automation control and business systems. Berkeley reports that adding OPC to its automation control products provides users with easy access to machine and process data for interface with commercial HMI products, SQL databases, web servers, and wireless communications products.
