Bosch broadens line of dc electric motors for industrial applications

Applications for geared and non-geared electric motors include welding equipment, medical equipment. power tools, appliances, and more.

Robert Bosch LLC has announced a broadening of its line of dc electric motors for use in industrial applications. The expansion reflects a response to the needs of machine and product design engineers who look for increased flexibility in various design parameters, including, torque, shaft speed, physical size of the motor, operating voltage, electrical connector configurations, and mounting options, with or without a gearbox, according to Richard Walker, sales director.

The Bosch line includes geared motors and non-geared motors in compact physical sizes.


For many years Bosch has offered a broad selection of electric motors for a wide variety of applications, including automotive, power tools, and appliances, as well as a host of applications for many other products and devices, including furniture, welding equipment, medical equipment, and residential and commercial gate and garage door openers. The newly-expanded line provides options for the above applications, including:

• Geared motors, with torque ratings from 0.2 to 7.4 ft-lbs ( 0.3 - 10 Nm), and shaft speeds from 5 to 700 rpm;
• Non-geared motors, with torque ratings from 0.01 to 5.2 ft-lbs ( 0.02 - 7 Nm), and shaft speeds from 1300 to 9500 rpm;
• Compact physical sizes to satisfy most engineering needs;
• 12 or 24 volt operating systems;
• Standard and custom electrical connector configurations; and
• Standard and custom mounting options.

Bosch engineers and consultants are available to customize shaft sizes and speeds, mountings, torque capacity, and even electrical connectors and operating voltage to satisfy individual customers' needs. Bosch also is a global supplier of switches, relays, sensors, and related components. A detailed catalog is available on-line .
