Business: Integrator manages documents; growth in Europe, Middle East

By Control Engineering Staff December 7, 2006

Several system integrators were involved in reseller agreements that expand their reach in regions including Europe and the Middle East.

Swedish technology integrator Condesign formed a reseller partnership with Lattice Technology Inc . Lattice Technology provides applications that enable organizations to rapidly integrate, re-use, publish, and communicate 3-D data that originates as engineering CAD models. The agreement is said to underscore the growing demand for effective 3-D publishing software within major automotive OEMs and other large-scale manufacturers. Condesign international clients include Saab, Volvo, Ford, ABB, IKEA, among others. Major automotive, manufacturing, and aerospace companies use Lattice XVL-based technologies throughout the world to take data directly from engineering and convert and compress 3-D images into an XVL file. XVL enables compression of very large data and the use of computer memory so that end-users can manipulate, e-mail, and publish models that were originally 50-250 times larger, without loss of detail.

Itasca Automation Systems LLC , a system integrator , manufacturer, designer, and importer of programmable, automated single spindle and multi-spindle coil winding machines entered into a preliminary license agreement with DTHB Automation SA, Geneva, Switzerland, to sell automation systems into European and Middle East countries, according to Charles Brumder, owner and president of Itasca.DTHB Automation manufactures and sells GSA fine wire winding machines, thermo-compression bonding heads and automation machines in the European Community (EU), Eastern European countries not currently in the EU, Russia, and the Middle East, including Israel, according to Brumder. The new company will cover service for existing machines in these areas, he said. Itasca will introduce the fine wire winding machines and thermo-compression bonding heads to market in third-quarter 2007. The company provides engineering and manufacturing of custom designed machines that include pin inserting, fluxing, soldering, finishing, taping, hot air bonding, wire stripping, component assembly, testing, and vision inspection.
