Hatfield, MA— esd electronics Inc. is offering its CAN-Stepcon CANopen starter kit to give PC users experience with CANopen motion control in stepper motor applications. The kit contains a USB-CAN interface, CANopen stepper motor controller (CAN-Stepcon-1H), I/O wiring, a 100-240 V ac/47-62 Hz power supply, and CAN network components, including a T-connector and terminations, as well as documentation, drivers, and operator software for Windows. The kit is fully programmable by the user, using C++, etc.

The kit is applicable for users of stepper motors in myriad industries including the processing industries, motion control, medical equipment, automotive, electronics, aeronautics, automation, and military products.

The company says that integral to the kit is its CAN-Stepcon-1H, which meets DS301 and DS402 standards for motion control. CAN-Stepcon-1H also provides

The CAN-USB-Mini interface module, designed according to ISO11898 with a bit rate up to 1 Mbps, acts as the CANopen manager and the CAN-Stepcon-1H acts as the slave. This eases operation because users only have to connect the components according to the software, and install the driver and tools on their PCs to get started. Parts of the CAN starter kit can be reused and comply with the CiA standards and industrial requirements.

All manuals, hardware, and software for the starter kit can be downloaded from esd’s website at . The firm’s CANopen stepper motor controller also is available separately from the kit.
