Carbon Motors begins work on recyclable vehicle

Cleared to develop former automotive brownfield site in Indiana, Carbon Motors will design, develop, manufacture, distribute, service, and recycle purpose-built law enforcement patrol vehicle.

CarbonMotors Corporation has been advised by the U.S. Department of Energy that itsapplication has been deemed Substantially Complete, clearing the first majorhurdle in the process of obtaining a $310 million loan under the provisions ofthe Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. Carbon Motors Corporation isa homeland security company on a mission to design, develop, manufacture,distribute, service, and recycle, the world’s first purpose-built lawenforcement patrol vehicle.

Carbon

Motors has engaged HOK Architects to redevelop an environmentally contaminated

site in Connersville, IN, into a sustainable campus to house

Carbon’s headquarters, research and development, production, service, sales,

training, and vehicle recycling operations. Connersville

was once home toautomakers Auburn, Cord,

Duesenberg, Ansted, Empire, Lexington

and McFarlan.

Carbon

Motors recently named Michael D. Cowley, former executive product development

manager for Global Powertrain Fuel Systems in North America and Europe for all vehicle lines at Ford Motor Company, as

powertrain director for Carbon Motors. Cowley will have responsibility for the

development andintegration of engines and transmissions into Carbon’s E7, reportedly

the world’s first purpose-built law enforcement patrol vehicle.
