Chipset supports Microsoft Windows Vista

Five IGP chipsets from Via Technologies Inc. have received the Microsoft Windows Vista Basic logo from Microsoft.

Five IGP chipsets from Via Technologies Inc. have received the Microsoft Windows Vista Basic logo from Microsoft. On the list are the Via K8M890 and P4M900 for the latest mainstream AMD and Intel desktops; the Via K8N890 for AMD processor-powered notebooks, upcoming Via CN896 for Via C7T processor desktop and embedded systems; and the new Via VN896 mobile chipset for Via C7-M and Intel Pentium M processors. These PCI express chipsets feature the latest Via Chrome9T integrated 2D/3D graphics processor supporting DirectX 9.0 and the ChromotionT CE video display engine. Certification of the chipsets reportedly ensures that desktops, laptops, and ultra mobile devices can be built ready for the new Vista operating system.
