Siemens has enhanced its line of Simatic MV440 1D/2D code reading systems with a wide range of new features, including ultra high resolution, Power over Ethernet (PoE), Veri-Genius code marking verification and Profinet IO device replacement.

Now available with 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution, the MV440 reader delivers a wide field of view and captures up to 150 codes simultaneously. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Text Genius feature expands the functional scope of the reader with text recognition.

PoE enables power, picture data and time-critical data to be transmitted over a shared cable, reducing wiring hardware and installation costs. Additionally, Siemens Scalance X108 PoE/X308-2M and PoE/XR324-4MPoE industrial Ethernet switches draw power from the Ethernet cable.

The MV440 reader features Veri-Genius that automatically verifies code marking quality. Existing readers can also be upgraded with Veri-Genius with Simatic Automation License Manager. The MV440 also offers a Profinet IO device replacement function that allows the reader to be easily and quickly removed and replaced, keeping configuration work to a minimum and lowering plant maintenance costs and downtime.
