The world needs the savings associated with seamlessly moving product and information from production to packaging. That's the Make2Pack initiative.
The idea behind Make2Pack has been tighter integration of equipment, machinery, and software objects from making products in batches or continuous processes through packaging. The packaging machinery industry may need to reinvest in ISA88 Part 5, a standard being drafted based on Make2Pack concepts,
"People may have lost sight of what Make2Pack is and what it means to internalize Make2Pack tools in their processes," said Chappell in his blog. "PackML and ISA88 Part 5 draft and Part 1 revision aim to create an umbrella over all of that. I heard those involved say that PackML can stand alone and Make2Pack has become ISA’s work. No. All of this has to work together. An OMAC disassociated from Make2Pack, moving out on its own will weaken the 'make' and the 'pack.'"
