Compact magnetic encoder

The ERM 2400 Series of modular magnetic encoders from Heidenhain features more compact dimensions than the current ERM 200, already commonly used on C axes in lathes. They can be used at higher rotational speeds, making them useful in applications such as spindles for milling machines. Encoders consist of scanning heads and scale drum assemblies, which are designed for small installation spaces.

The ERM 2400 Series of modular magnetic encoders from Heidenhain features more compact dimensions than the current ERM 200, already commonly used on C axes in lathes. They can be used at higher rotational speeds, making them useful in applications such as spindles for milling machines. Encoders consist of scanning heads and scale drum assemblies, which are designed for small installation spaces. The ERM 2404 scale drum has a continuous centering collar on its inner circumference, fastened with a frictional connection; it can endure very high rotational speeds. The ERM 2405 scale drum provides feather-key slots on its inner circumference to prevent unintentional rotation of the drum. Since the drums do not have mounting holes, it is possible to realize relatively large inside diameters.
