Eden Prairie, MNAutomationtechies.com announced on Nov. 1 that it has partnered with Top Echelon Contracting Inc. (Canton, OH) to provide contract recruiting and placement services. This relationship allows Automationtechies.com to expand its existing employee recruitment services with Top Echelon’s ”Back-Office Employer of Record” services.

Automationtechies.com powers Control Engineering’s job service, located at www.controleng.com/jobs .

”In a struggling economy, many automation companies are looking for ways to cut overhead while improving productivity,” explains Rick Zabel, Automationtechies.com, vp. ”One way to accomplish this is to hire short-term contract or temp-to-hire employees instead of permanent employees,” Mr. Zabel says. ”By hiring a contract employee, a company minimizes workforce overhead and still completes that important automation project on time. Using this model, the company can decide to hire the contract employee at any time during or at the end of a contract. The contract period serves as an evaluation period for both the company and the employee.”

With recent industry layoffs, thousands of good engineers are out of work, according to Automationtechies.com, which says it performs searches for the most qualified short-term contract candidates with a turn-around time as short as a few days. When the client company decides on the best candidate, Automationtechies.com makes the connection, then Top Echelon Contracting hires the candidate, becomes the legal ”Employer of Record,” and handles all payroll, tax, and administrative functions.

Automationtechies.com cites Wendi-Lynn Hechtman of Calmetrics Co. as saying ”Recently we took on a very large automation job requiring a ‘dream team’ of controls engineers of Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Wonderware talent.” A controls engineer at Automationtechies.com helped supply five people to help with the Calmetrics project.
