New York, N.Y. - Control Engineering's (Oak Brook, Ill.) parent company, Cahners Business Information, changed its name to Reed Business Information (RBI), saying the "new name and logo strengthens commitment to providing reliable news, critical information and innovative marketing solutions."

Reed Business Information now incorporates Cahners Business Information (U.S.), Elsevier Business Information (Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain and Italy), and Reed Business Information (U.K., Asia and Australia), which together with Reed Exhibitions (Worldwide) form Reed Business. The announcement, made Feb. 19, was effective immediately.

Rebranding from Cahners to Reed Business Information presents new global growth opportunities to all levels of the organization and enables the company to emerge as a more distinguished market leader across all business divisions, sources there say. Accompanying the name change, Reed Business Information will unveil a new corporate identity that will more closely align it with Reed Elsevier.

"This rebranding initiative driven by Reed Elsevier will further extend our market leadership position, as well as more effectively communicate the excellence of our products to global customers, suppliers, governments, trade associations and investors," said Jim Casella, ceo, Reed Business Information U.S. "Our global resources create new platforms for growth and will enable us to further our commitment to our customers, publications and service companies."

Reed Business Information expects to carry on the Cahners' tradition of providing reliable news, critical information and innovative marketing solutions to readers and other customers.

Control Engineering , Control Engineering Europe , and Control Engineering Online cover the $130 billion worldwide market for controls, instrumentation and automation systems (for discrete, process, batch, and mixed applications), reaching 59,000 plants worldwide, serving more than 65 industries.

Reed Business Information (RBI) is a leading provider of critical information and marketing solutions to business professionals in the media, manufacturing, electronics, construction and retail industries. Its market-leading properties include more than 135 business-to-business publications, over 125 webzines and web portals, as well as online services, custom publishing, directories, research and direct-marketing lists.
