Among those specifying, recommending, and/or buying control valves, 76% do so for in-plant requirements and 35% do so for OEM requirements.

Executive Summary

  • Limit switches are the most commonly specified accessory to ball, V-ball, and butterfly valves. Positioner and I/P’s Combinations are the most popular with globe valves. Solenoid valves receive the most votes when it comes to diaphragm, plug and other control valves.

  • Frequency of repair/service among respondents was somewhat evenly distributed, with 37% saying once per 2 years, 33% saying once per year, and 30% saying it is once per 3 or more years.

  • Thirty-two percent of Control Engineering subscribers responding do not receive IAN. Fifty-seven percent do not receive Control.
