Cooper Bussmann 2009/2010 Productivity Through Protection Training Tour started this week with Local Crescent Electric branch events in the Chicago area, covering arc-flash reduction and safety, current limitation, interrupting ratings, short-circuit current ratings (SCCR), and selective coordination.

The Productivity Through Protection (PTP) Tour is an electrical technology and training program designed for electricians and engineers in construction, maintenance/repair and original equipment design. The PTP Training Experience is a 32-foot display trailer outfitted with Cooper Bussmann products. It allows guests to engage in training via interactive displays, video and one-on-one discussions with Cooper Bussmann representatives.

“The focus of this tour is education , and providing product and service solutions,” explained Paul Taylor, vice president marketing, Cooper Bussmann. “On-board, guests will discover new technology and information on arc-flash reduction, current limitation, interrupting ratings, short-circuit current ratings and selective coordination. It is our intention to inform, educate and provide a meaningful experience to our visitors so they can more safely design, install and maintain electrical distribution systems.”

The PTP Tour ties these key issues with Cooper Bussmann products including the new Quik-Spec Coordination Panelboard, Compact Circuit Protector, and finger-safe products, such as power distribution blocks and the patented Low-Peak CubeFuse. Alternative energy applications and wireless maintenance technology are also featured.

The two-year PTP Tour has scheduled stops at Cooper Bussmann distributor locations and industry trade shows in the U.S. and Canada. Distributors can select from five training modules to meet the needs of their customer base with topics ranging from industrial control panel short-circuit current ratings to selective coordination.
