The Fanuc robot in the background of this 10-second video clip at Automation Fair 2016 knows which ball to pick up with embedded radiofrequency identification (RFID) chips embedded in each ball. Courtesy: Mark T. Hoske, Control Engineering, CFE MediaRockwell Automation showed its MagneMotion MagneMover Lite linear motor system at Automation Fair 2016 in Atlanta. The Fanuc robot in the background of this 10-second video clip knows which ball to pick up with embedded radio frequency identification (RFID) chips embedded in each ball. MagneMover Lite is said to outperform conventional belt and chain conveyors for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in-machine applications and for demanding motion requirements, for higher process optimization and throughput. The intelligent motion system has accurate positioning without hard stops, bi-directional travel, smooth motion and continuous carrier tracking and reporting; simulation and configuration tools to simplify system design and optimization; standard industrial communication protocols and software-configured move profiles for fast and easy changeovers; and traceability, with ability to know the location of each carrier and where it is at all times, with priority routing, and reporting for audit trail.
