CSIA conference marked by new leadership, international presence

More than 500 people attended the Control System Integrators Association (CSIA) Executive Conference in Washington, D.C., U.S., as well as 60 system integrators, partners, and guests from 13 countries.

More than 500 people attended the Control System Integrators Association (CSIA) Executive Conference in Washington, D.C., U.S., which was held April 29-May 2, 2015. Jose Rivera, named CEO on March 23, was on-hand at the conference along with executive director Robert Lowe, who is retiring on June 1. About 60 system integrators, partners, and guests from 13 countries attended the conference and were welcomed at a special reception for international guests. Economist Alan Beaulieu, president of ITR Economics, opened the conference by sharing his optimism for the future of manufacturing and how system integrators can prepare for upcoming challenges and opportunities.

Two workshops were held in conjunction with the conference. The Best Practices Training workshop was offered for those interested in learning more about the application of CSIA’s Best Practices to improve their system integration businesses. A Commonsense Approach to Automation Upgrades and System Migrations workshop was held for project managers, control engineers, and designers to learn commonsense migration fundamentals and best practices. It also emphasized how to manage common high-risk areas to ensure reliable delivery of effective migration project solutions.

The conference also featured 25 breakout sessions and an expo during the three-day event. Four members were recognized with association awards during a dinner held in their honor. Martin Control Systems, Inc., Plain City, Ohio, U.S., was named 2015 Integrator Member of the Year, while Inductive Automation, Folsom, California, U.S., was recognized as 2015 Partner Member of the Year. The 2015 Rising Star award was presented to Steve Palmgren, Patti Engineering, Inc., Auburn Hills, Michigan, U.S. Jim Campbell, Viewpoint Systems, Inc., Rochester, New York, U.S., received the 2015 Charlie Bergman Award.
