The Control and Information System Integrators Association (CSIA) announced Sept. 8 that it’s offering its members free 10-minute legal consultations. This new benefit for CSIA members follows the recent appointment of attorney Mark Voigtmann as the association’s general counsel.

Voigtmann is an attorney at Baker & Daniels, a law firm with offices in Indiana, Washington, D.C., and China. A partner and chair of the firm’s Construction Law Group, Voigtmann is experienced in resolving disputes involving automation and system integration.

”There are many business and legal issues unique to system integrators, but not a commensurate number of attorneys versed in the idiosyncrasies of the business,” says Norman O’Leary, CSIA’s executive director. ”Serving as our general counsel, Mark provides his expert insight into issues of relevance to our members, which supports our mission statement: To improve the busi-ness skills of our members and provide a forum for them to discuss common business issues.”

Voigtmann will be available to CSIA members for free 10-minute legal consultations on system integration-related issues and questions that can be easily answered or addressed over the phone. In addition, he will contribute legal updates to the association’s member newsletter, and will participate in CSIA’s annual executive conferences.

Founded in 1994, CSIA is the largest organization for control and information system integration. Its members and their companies annually provide manufacturers worldwide with more than $1 billion worth of industrial automation systems, including $400 million worth of hardware and software automation products. They provide integrated control systems for clients in the automotive, chemical, food, healthcare, medical, metal, petrochemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, plastics, power, printing, rubber, and other industries.
