Dalsa Corp

. has released the Falcon 1.4M100, a 1.4 mega pixel area camera that delivers 100 frames per second at full resolution in a compact body. Applications include electronics manufacturing and semiconductor inspection, which require fast inspection rates and high accuracy.

Dalsa’s 1.4 mega pixel area camera delivers 100 frames per second.

The camera uses the manufacturer’s patented CMOS sensor technology to deliver high quality images at high speeds. It features global shutter technology and achieves 57 dB of dynamic range. Fully programmable, via base mini-camera link, the Falcon incorporates exposure control, windowing, gain, and offset adjustment, as well as flat-field correction. Direct camera control is possible through CamExpert point-and-click graphical user interface. Data is transmitted using 10 m long mini-Camera Link cables. High-speed, smear-free still image capture is featured.

Applications such as traffic management, metrology, and robotics inspection need to image fast-moving objects without distortion. Other applications include PCB-AOI and electronics inspection, semiconductor wafer inspection, flat panel display inspection, and general machine vision such as print registration and pharmaceutical inspection.

Also featured are enhanced 10 m mini-Camera Link data drive capability, vertical windowing for faster frame rate, 2 x 80 MHz data rates, and 8- or 10-bit selectable output.

According to Mark Butler, Dalsa product manager, “The Falcon 1.4M100 has the ability to increase throughput and the quality of inspection, which are of tremendous value to semiconductor and electronics inspection customers. Providing better image quality ensures more reliable inspection and leads to fewer product defects and greater system efficiency.”

The Falcon 1.4M100 is compatible with Dalsa Xcelera series of frame grabbers, which are PoCL (Power over Camera Link) capable, as well as, Dalsa’s X64-CL and Anaconda CL vision processors.

The Falcon 1.4M100 will be showcased at the

Vision 2007 show in Stuttgart, Germany

, Nov. 6-8 in Hall 4, Booth 4D32.
