Washington, DC – Danaher Corp. announced Sept. 3 that it has agreed to purchase Thomson Industries Inc. (Port Washington, NY) for $165 million and an additional contingent consideration based on Thomson’s future performance, pending customary conditions. With annual revenues of approximately $155 million, Thomson produces linear motion control products, including linear actuators, ball screws, linear bearings and rails and precision gearboxes. Danaher’s Motion division will combine its existing linear actuator and component businesses with Thomson. In other news, Danaher announced Aug. 23 that it has agreed to purchase Raytek Corp. for approximately $75 million, pending required approvals. With more than $50 million in revenues for 2001, Raytek will become a part of Danaher’s Electronic Test and Measurement platform. Raytek produces non-contact infrared thermometers. Danaher also owns Fluke (Everett, WA); Kollmorgen (Radford, VA); Pacific Scientific (Rockford, IL); Hart Scientific (American Fork, UT); and McCrometer (Hemet, CA).
