Data-Linc launches modems, wireless I/O extenders

Because many applications need industrial wireless performance at shorter ranges, Data-Linc has introduced its PlantLinc wireless solution, which reportedly offers wireless communications up to 4 miles with interference immunity. PlantLinc two models include PlantLinc 5000 industrial wireless serial modem and PlantLinc 580 wireless I/O extender.

PlantLinc 5000 provides wireless RS232 connectivity for serial devices, such as PLCs or RTUs in point-to-point or multi-point configurations. Data rates up to 38.4 kbps are supported. PlantLinc 5000 is housed in a compact, rugged enclosure, and an optional DIN rail clip is also available.

PlantLinc 580 provides wireless I/O extension for discrete and analog 4-20 mA signals. PlantLinc 580D supports eight discrete inputs and outputs. PlantLinc 580DA provides an additional eight analog (4-20 mA) inputs and outputs. PlantLinc 580 supports point-to-point and multi-point applications.

PlantLinc modems and I/O extenders, as well as Data-Linc’s other communications components, are available from local PLC and automation products distributors. Data-Linc introduced its first license-free industrial wireless technology nearly 10 years ago. Its SRM series of industrial wireless modems are now operating in tens of thousands of automation systems worldwide, and offer reliable, long-range communications at 25 miles and beyond.
