Baltimore, MA — Davis Inotek Instruments LLC has signed a final purchase agreement with GE Consumer & Industrial to buy GE’s Instrumentation Services unit. The Duluth, GA-calibration and repair operation serves more than 1,000 manufacturers across the U.S. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The sale, subject to the completion of transaction documentation, is expected to close in May 2006.

The combined companies anticipate offering a broader scope of capabilities, more flexibility, and a large network of calibration laboratories through 30 regional facilities. GE management said it believes the move will align the Instrumentation Services unit with a company that has metrology services as a core competency and a strong interest in investing and growing this type of business.

Davis Inotek Instruments is a manufacturer and distributor of test, measurement, and control systems. It operates a network of sales and service centers that specialize in test, measurement, and control systems and providing calibration and repair services.
