Kansas City, MO —The United Steelworkers of America (USWA)—on the occasion of Vice President Cheney’s visit to the Harley-Davidson plant—claimed that the AFL-CIO’s analysis of the Administration’s first two years showed a loss of 1.5 million manufacturing jobs. The USWA added that overall U.S. manufacturing employment had fallen to 14.3 million by March 2005, which the AFL-CIO claims is lower than the corresponding 1945 level.
