Barry-Wehmiller Design Group announced that it is expanding its facility design national practice with the acquisition of Delphey-Gerdes Engineering, an architectural and engineering firm serving the food processing and other industries in the Western U.S.

“For 25 years, the Design Group has provided a wide range of engineering, project management and other technical services for industrial automation applications, such as process design and packaging integration,” stated Joseph Wilhelm, the firm’s Managing Partner. “Following the acquisition of Stahlman Group in 2004, the Design Group added full-service engineering services for facilities, plant expansions and building infrastructure. The merger of Delphey-Gerdes into our firm will significantly expand our national footprint for these specialized facility design services.”

Delphey-Gerdes Engineering, located in Los Angeles, is a full-service engineering firm that specializes in designing facilities for food and food processing, but also serves other industrial applications. “Over the last 20 years, Delphey-Gerdes Engineering has established an exceptional reputation in serving these industries,” stated Rob Redman, Managing Partner of Design Group’s facility national practice. “We are thrilled to have the Delphey-Gerdes team join together with Stahlman Group to create a powerful national practice within our combined firm.”

As part of the merger, the principals of Delphey-Gerdes Engineering will remain as executives with the firm in its Los Angeles office, taking on regional leadership roles within the Design Group. “We are extremely pleased to be able to continue the legacy of Delphey-Gerdes Engineering, now as an integral part of Design Group’s facility national practice,” stated Reid Delphey. “As part of Design Group, we now expect to grow our presence significantly on a national scale.”
