EFAB Access promotes quick, easy, affordable design and test of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), microdevices, and microscopic mechanical parts. Combined effort of SolidWorks Corp., Microfabrica Inc., and Mosis gives users access to 3-D mechanical software to design and manufacture MEMS and microdevices as part of a single solution. System reportedly lets designers and engineers create “true 3-D” devices in at least four times as many layers as traditional MEMS processes allow. It is based on Microfabrica’s technology that deposits many metal layers with micron precision. SolidWorks software enables viewing of 3-D microgeometry as it will appear when fabricated in layers.
