Neuffen, Germany Digitronic GmbH will soon bring its electronic cam controllers, measurement systems, and accessories to U.S. customers. The company has already signed with a marketing/communications consultant, and will establish a U.S. distributor and technical support capability later this year for current clients, such as Procter and Gamble.

Using a Motorola 68332 microprocessor, Digitronic's cam controller reports a 60-microsecond cycle time. Its controllers work together with a logic-based PLC in one device. A dynamic switch point is included for each output channel. Digitronic also offers compact systems with operator panels, module systems for operating existing customer panels, and fieldbus systems—Profibus, Interbus, and CAN—as well as plug-in Simatic PLC systems. All Digitronic products use Digisoft program software.

Two of Digitronic's products are the Cam Controller DC51 and the DC16. DC51 uses positions of any linear or rotating encoder and control programmable switchpoints (cams) of the outputs. It also includes an LCD for the interactive operator panel. DC16 is a carrier rail module for the switching board, and offers the same features as the DC51, with 16 outputs and eight inputs. Other options, such as the PLC-Logic-Module, are available. DC16 can be programmed over a PLC, PC, or operator panel.
