Dymec introduces Ethernet terminal server to integrate serial and IP data

To help increase network flexibility and robustness in harsh substation, process, and transportation environments, Dymec Inc. has introduced its DynaStar 1500 Ethernet Terminal Server (DS1500-ETS) data networking platform for integrating serial and IP-based data streams from multiple devices.

To help increase network flexibility and robustness in harsh substation, process, and transportation environments, Dymec Inc . has introduced its DynaStar 1500 Ethernet Terminal Server (DS1500-ETS) data networking platform for integrating serial and IP-based data streams from multiple devices. The company says its DS1500-ETS provides a reliable alternative to non-hardened commercial switches, routers, and terminal servers used in power utility substations, oil refining, and petrochemical plants, water and wastewater processing sites, and transportation systems.

DS1500-ETS integrates Ethernet switching, terminal serving, and IP routing functionality into one platform, eliminating multiple points of failure, while reducing hardware and related deployment costs. Besides supporting Ethernet-enabled automation, DS1500-ETS supports multiple serial protocols, allowing customers to use one networking platform to migrate data streams from different field devices onto their industrial TCP/IP network.

DS1500-ETS' Ethernet VLAN and encryption capabilities allow it to build resilient and secure Ethernet rings in industrial environments. Alternatively, it offers a cost-effective path for converging serial and Ethernet data streams onto existing Ethernet networks, fiberoptic rings, and even into SONET implementations.
