EC: Allen-Bradley PanelView 5500 Graphic Terminal

Hardware — HMI, operator interface, thin-client: The Allen-Bradley PanelView 5500 graphic terminal has an intuitive, modern design and many new features that help engineers design and operate applications more efficiently. This is a Control Engineering 2017 Engineers’ Choice Awards Finalist.

The Allen-Bradley PanelView 5500 graphic terminal provides enhanced integration with Logix controllers using the Rockwell Software Studio 5000 View Designer application. This integration improves programming efficiency because engineers can enter configuration information once and use it for the entire automation design.

The terminal also includes pre-built content, including Logix-based alarms and tags, to help engineers develop applications faster. Scalable vector graphics automatically adjust objects and screens to any terminal size, and advanced graphic animation capabilities reduce the need for complicated programmatic development.

Engineers can more easily build modern applications using the PanelView 5500 graphic terminal. High-speed HMI buttons provide quick response and feedback for machine jogging applications. Smart runtime error notifications help operators quickly identify and manage issues. With an embedded Ethernet switch and two Ethernet ports, the terminal can support a device-level-ring (DLR) topology for network fault tolerance and reduced downtime.

The PanelView 5500 graphic terminal is available in multiple screen-size options ranging from 7 to 19 in., all with a slim aluminum bezel. The 19-in. screen offers manufacturers more display area on which they can design, control and monitor large applications. The PanelView 5500 model also includes touchscreen or keypad options. In addition, tool-less mounting clips make installation faster.
