EC: BOA Spot Vision Sensor

Machine & Embedded Control — Discrete sensors, machine vision: BOA Spot Vision Sensor simplifies system design and improves overall system robustness by replacing multiple photoelectric sensors and inspecting multiple part features at the same time. This is a Control Engineering 2017 Engineers’ Choice Awards Finalist.

BOA Spot offers vision system performance with the ease-of-use and affordability of a vision sensor. Developed for error-proofing applications, BOA Spot offers integrated lighting, lens cover, easy-to-use software, and easy integration with factory systems. BOA Spot vision sensors offer much more flexibility than traditional sensors for performing quality checks and eliminate the need for expensive fixturing by automatically compensating for part position variation. Embedded vision tools for part locating, feature finding, counting and measuring applications, offer a simple graphic user interface can be combined and used numerous times to solve simple or complex inspection tasks.

Inspections using BOA Spot can be triggered by parts in motion or from a PLC after being moved into a stationary position. Standard factory protocols, such as Ethernet/IP and Profinet are directly supported for communicating with third party equipment or the factory enterprise.
