EC: Harmony Wireless, Battery-less Push Button
Network integration - Wireless products: Harmony Wireless, Battery-less Push Button from Schneider Electric is the first industrial switch with no wires and no batteries that offers maximum freedom and mobility to equipment operators and allows them to cut installation costs by 20%. This is a Control Engineering 2012 Engineers’ Choice finalist.
Utilizing wireless technology, the Harmony XB5R wireless, battery-less push button from Schneider Electric is easy to install in new and existing applications, such as bottling, packaging, and conveying lines. Users no longer need to pass a cable through the machine structure or cable tray to connect the push button to the electrical panel, cutting installation costs by 20% as compared to traditional wired solutions. When the operator pushes the button, mechanical energy is transformed into electrical energy, which sends a one-time radio message to one or multiple receivers. In addition, up to 32 push buttons can be synched to a receiver, providing even greater mobility in any environment. This battery-less solution offers permanent availability; benefits the environment; and eliminates costly battery maintenance, recharging, and recycling. As the wireless signals can be passed through doors, walls and floors, the operators can now enjoy greater freedom and mobility by remotely controlling machines at a distance of up to 25 m. Similar to other Harmony products, the wireless, battery-less push button is well suited for harsh industrial environments, where added protection of people and machines is paramount.
