EC: IndraControl XM 22 PLC

Machine & Embedded Control — PLCs, PACs, industrial PCs: Rexroth’s IndraControl XM 22 programmable logic controller uses Intel 1.3 GHz ATOM Processor and onboard Sercos automation bus to create a functionally complete and scalable control system. This is a Control Engineering 2017 Engineers’ Choice Awards Finalist.


The IndraControl XM22 is a programmable logic controller (PLC), which offers speed and flexibility through integration with other Rexroth software. The IndraControl XM 22 is available with Intel 1.3 GHz ATOM processor, along with an onboard Sercos master featuring a cycle time as low as 250 μs.

The IndraControl XM platform features high-performance real-time data processing capabilities and creates opportunity for a connected industry. In addition, all of the IndraControl XM family utilizes the features of Rexroth's Open Core Interface. This allows multiple software development environments using a standard SDK to be integrated among a wide range of systems.

The XM22 hardware is rated for IECEx/ATEX zone 2 environments and has marine/offshore ratings certifications as well, growing the industry reach of Rexroth motion control. New levels of speed and flexibility are met with Rexroth's IndraControl XM family. Integrating the IndraControl S20 I/O series adds flexibility to the control system, which uses a service-friendly design and reduces installation costs. The IndraControl S20 I/O also features short module reaction times for efficient production cycles and real-time signal processing of measuring systems and intelligent sensors. The IndraControl XM22 enhances scalability by using Rexroth's standard IndraMotion MLC system firmware for motion logic applications. Combining all of this with the speed of the Sercos automation bus creates the functionally complete and scalable control system.
