EC: INTUNE+ v5.8 with Hierarchy Reporting
Software - Diagnostics: Hierarchy Reporting is a software function that enables plant personnel to locate the source of process variability problems and to determine the cause-and-effect relationships. This is a Control Engineering 2014 Engineers’ Choice finalist.
The Hierarchy Reporting function in INTUNE+ v5.8 makes it unique and award-worthy. Hierarchy Reporting enables plant personnel to locate the source of process variability problems and to determine the cause-and-effect relationships.
INTUNE+ creates a high-level single-screen overview of a process that identifies the areas where performance of automation equipment or the process is degrading. The overview serves as a performance dashboard for plant management.
Since many process problems originate from lower level end-element issues, INTUNE+ uses the end-element layer as the foundation of the Hierarchy Report. Subsequent process areas, as linked by the control system design, are added between the foundation layer and the overview dashboard to reveal how the degradation of performance propagates and to point automation engineers to the root cause of the problem.
This detailed visibility into all layers of control system and process performance gives management the key tools to improve overall operational efficiency through saving time and extending the life of valves and pumps.
The real-time diagnostic tools that accompany Hierarchy Reporting also provide strategic benefits such as better institutionalization of process knowledge and improved inter-departmental coordination, since each functional group in the plant can learn from the consistent data analysis and root cause information in the Hierarchy Report.
