The hot-tap insertion design McCrometer Model 394L FPI Mag Bi-Directional Flow Meter requires no line shutdown to install and  features multiple electrodes across the entire span of pipe for superior accuracy. An intelligent converter provides totalized forward/reverse measurement by adding/subtracting liquid flow, producing net flow calculations in pipes where water may move in both directions. In large and older plants there are often complex plumbing configurations that have been retrofitted or expanded. The flow of water here may be unknown or difficult to calculate. McCrometer’s Model 394L FPI Mag Bi-Directional Flow Meter allows plant engineers to get a complete picture of the totalized flow.

The McCrometer Model 394L FPI Mag Bi-Directional Flow Meter serves line sizes from 4 in. to 138 in. and compares well to the performance of full bore electromagnetic flowmeters. Its highly stable profile provides accuracy of ± 1% of reading, ± 0.03 ft/sec zero stability from 0.3 ft/s to 20 ft/s velocity range. McCrometer’s Model 394L FPI Mag Flow Meter is the only multi-electrode, hot tap, full-profile insertion meter that delivers an accurate total flow profile similar to a full-bore mag meter. It combines superior performance with low installed and lifecycle costs.

The FPI Mag Flow Meter installs without interrupting service, de-watering lines, cutting pipe, or welding flanges. Installation costs for medium and large lines are reduced more than 45% by eliminating the heavy equipment and extensive labor.

McCrometer’s Model 394L FPI Mag Flow Meter features a sensor body made from heavy-duty 316 stainless steel for structural integrity. A 3M fusion-bonded epoxy coating ensures long-term operation. The meter comes precalibrated from McCrometer’s NIST traceable Calibration Lab and requires no recalibration in the field. With no moving parts, it contains nothing to wear or break and is generally immune to clogging by sand or grit.
