Software - Applications: MXconfig is a Windows-based utility that greatly simplifies mass installation, configuration, and maintenance of Moxa industrial Ethernet switches. This is a Control Engineering 2014 Engineers’ Choice finalist.It can be difficult for automation engineers to manage the configuration of every switch on a typical industrial Ethernet network.

MXconfig, a Windows-based utility from Moxa, is a powerful tool to minimize the time and effort required to configure and deploy multiple industrial Ethernet switches. The key features in MXconfig are designed to make mass configuration and mass deployment of Moxa switches as easy as possible.

With MXconfig, you can easily deploy the same configuration settings, including IP addresses, redundancy protocols, and VLAN settings, across multiple Moxa switches from a single physical location. For larger networks, this can result in enormous time savings, since manual configuration of multiple Ethernet switches can be physically laborious and prone to errors.

The link sequence detection feature ensures continued network availability while configuring VLAN or redundancy settings. With link sequence detection, MXconfig allows users to prioritize devices according to physical distance, ensuring that each device will be configured completely and in the proper order.

In addition to displaying configuration information for individual devices, MXconfig also provides a mass configuration overview where users can see functional information for a large number of device in a glance. MXconfig can also generate and export reports for easy management. Configuration files can be batch exported or imported for future backup or quick re-installation.

The use of critical switch functions can have a big impact on network performance, such as general network settings, VLAN settings, redundancy protocols, and factory default settings. MXconfig provides three levels of security privileges—Admin, Supervisor, and Operator—so you are able to manage who is given the ability to configure these settings for maximum management flexibility and security.
