Opto 22's Opto iPAC mobile application lets automation engineers and field technicians interact with their control systems using popular mobile devices including the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. This is a Control Engineering 2012 Engineers’ Choice finalist.In addition to bank statements and movie times, users can access production equipment status and other control system information from anywhere their wireless network reaches. Opto 22's Opto iPAC mobile application extends the industrial network and streamlines authorized access to the factory floor by giving control engineers, maintenance personnel, instrumentation techs, panel builders, and others a way to view, debug, and fine-tune their networked control systems using their smartphone or tablet.

As one of the only automation vendors offering this type of mobile app, Opto 22 is helping automation professionals save time and money in their control system installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities. The mobility enabled by the convergence of wireless networks and the Opto iPAC mobile app creates new opportunities for factory floor efficiency, specifically with regard to equipment operation, diagnostics, maintenance, and troubleshooting. For example, using Opto iPAC, engineers and technicians carrying their smartphones with them on the factory floor can inspect their controllers and I/O processors, view any control strategies running or saved on their controllers, check firmware, and perform other functions that previously could only be accomplished from a PC.
