PlantTriage Control Performance Monitoring — Identifies the root cause of process, control, and equipment problems. This is a Control Engineering 2011 Engineers' Choice (EC) nominee.PlantTriage now pinpoints a specific root-cause for each process plant upset.  The new tools can be pointed at quality, production, and cost problems. Using regular on-line data from existing control systems, the software automatically finds a specific root cause, and clearly displays the answer. The new capability combines technical advances in correlation analysis, ready access to process data via OPC, and graphical, web-based dashboards. From a user's point of view, the root cause is clearly highlighted and called out. ExperTune's president, John Gerry, says, "In this past, this sort of analysis required a team of experienced specialists. PlantTriage has automated the work of these experts, making it easy for plant-based engineers and technicians to solve these problems directly."

Because most process plants are very complex, these tools can provide an insight into plant performance that was previously impossible. Gerry, who was recently inducted as an ISA Fellow, adds, "The ability to find root cause really streamlines the work for engineers. Often, people are surprised to find that the source of their problems is another area of the plant. Not only is this more efficient for the engineers, but plants are now solving long-standing process efficiency problems with far-reaching benefits throughout their entire facility."

For 24 years, ExperTune has created award-winning optimization software now running in thousands of plants world-wide.  PlantTriage Control Performance Monitor oversees the optimization of an entire plant, including equipment, operations, and controls. The PlantTriage suite of optimization tools are designed to increase the efficiency of processes. The tools include swing or oscillation detection and elimination, interaction analysis, modeling, robustness, linearization, valve wear analysis, pH linearization, time series analysis, MPC performance improvement, 6-sigma, frequency response, and PID tuning tools. ExperTune is a member of the OPC Foundation. For more information, set your browser to www.planttriage.com. The company's analysis tools include simulation, modeling, robustness, linearization, valve wear analysis, pH linearizer, time series analysis, multivariable, statistical, frequency response, and PID tuning tools.
