Motion Control — Drives: The Eaton PowerXL DG1 adjustable frequency drive is designed to help reduce energy consumption compared to traditional control methods, improve safety, and support reliable operations. This is a Control Engineering 2015 Engineers’The Eaton DG1 general-purpose drive is part of the Eaton next-generation PowerXL series of adjustable frequency drives specifically engineered for today's more demanding commercial and industrial applications. Designed for global customers, the drives help reduce energy consumption compared to traditional control methods, while improving safety and supporting reliable operations.

With Eaton's patented Active Energy Control algorithm, the new drives are programmed to dynamically adjust its operating point to minimize energy consumption. Applications that already incorporate adjustable frequency drives may realize additional energy and emissions savings of up to 10% by switching to the PowerXL DG1 drive.

For user simplicity, the drives include a graphic LCD keyboard display with two configurable soft keys and intuitive menu navigation. The drive is also engineered with onboard I/O to ease facility integration, and a real-time clock with battery backup to avoid unplanned interruption.

The modular design utilizes the latest generation of semiconductor technology to provide greater reliability and reduced maintenance time and costs. A wide range of onboard communication capabilities including Ethernet, Modbus, RS-485 and BACnet are also embedded in the PowerXL DG1 drive, allowing customers to easily access the detailed system data needed to simplify installation, commissioning and maintenance. And, built-in harmonic reduction capabilities combined with a high short-circuit current rating help customers further reduce the risk of unplanned downtime and minimize the costs of using a variable frequency drive.

The PowerXL DG1 drives are engineered for safety, including standard Safe Torque Off (STO) functionality. The drives are also Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliant and meet standards from Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Canadian Underwriters Laboratories (cUL), Conformité Européenne (CE), and Australia and New Zealand's C-Tick.
