Hardware – Integrated HMI-controller: The Vision350 PLC with an integrated HMI from Unitronics is an all-in-one control solution for automated processes. This is a Control Engineering 2012 Engineers’ Choice honorable mention.
The combination of a complete PLC and HMI system packed into one unit with onboard IOs ultimately reduces overall system costs by minimizing hardware requirements, saving cabinet space, and exempting the user from setting up panel-PLC communication. Each Unitronics controller provides a single integrated programming environment, available free of charge, that can be downloaded directly from the Unitronics website. This software package allows hardware configuration, ladder logic writing for the PLC, and intuitive HMI design.
Unitronics’ Vision350 PLC incorporates the 65K-color touchscreen advantage into a compact all-in-one device. The unit features five programmable keys with customizable graphics, and function keys that can be labeled as arrow keys using a supplied keypad slide. This powerful PLC is equipped with diverse onboard and expandable I/O options. With up to 38 onboard digital, analog, and temperature I/Os, the unit can expand up to a total of 512 I/O. Onboard Thermocouple and PT100 inputs allow the Vision350 to operate as a fully functional temperature controller.
Adaptable to most TCP/IP/serial protocols, the Vision350 offers exceptional communication features, such as Ethernet connection via TCP/IP, GSM/SMS/GPRS, MODBUS, CANopen & UniCAN, and Profibus, and also includes free remote access utilities. The Vision350 also supports 120 KB of internal data logging, SD card capabilities, and recipe programming. Enhanced programming features include trending, built-in alarm screens, easy HMI language support, and 24 PID loops with auto tune.
