VPort 461 Video Encoder - The VPort 461 is an industrial video encoder that takes analog video and converts it to digital to send over the Ethernet. The VPort 461 is the first Industrial video encoder that can easily integrate existing analog video into your SCADA system.  You can now utilize your security camera network as well as any other specialty cameras that exist to actually see why an alarm condition may have occurred. The VPort comes with plug-ins for the most popular SCADA systems such as Wonderware, Citect, Proficy and others.  Simply drag the supplied widget into your SCADA system software and you will then get a video popup window when an event of your choosing occurs.  Imagine seeing a live video feed from your desk before having to physically inspect why an alarm occurred.  Faster and more appropriate responses can be made saving time and money.

The VPort 461 supports 3 simultaneous video streams in 3 different formats: H.264, MJPEG, MPEG4.  This allows you to send one stream to a recorder for quality and logging purposes, one stream to the SCADA system, and one for live monitoring or security.  Don't worry about slowing your SCADA network down, H.264 is highly compressed high quality video.  With the VPort 461 you can now SEE your alarms and have more relevant information right in front of you.

Case Study Database

Get more exposure for your case study by uploading it to the Control Engineering case study database, where end-users can identify relevant solutions and explore what the experts are doing to effectively implement a variety of technology and productivity related projects.

These case studies provide examples of how knowledgeable solution providers have used technology, processes and people to create effective and successful implementations in real-world situations. Case studies can be completed by filling out a simple online form where you can outline the project title, abstract, and full story in 1500 words or less; upload photos, videos and a logo.

Poll of the Week

Are your industrial networks well defended against cyber attacks?
Like Fort Knox. Solid defense in depth.
Well defended, I think, but not positive.
Working on it, but not there yet.
Few defenses, but who would find us?
We’re wide open, living on borrowed time.
